food shines as eUnited cruise past ex-Singularity in ECS Season 8 Week 5 semifinal
The first semifinal matchup in the final week of ECS Season 8 saw eUnited up against ex-Singularity, with Victor "food" Wong helping his side dominate their opposition for a swift 2-0 series victory.
ex-Singularity's pick of Train was up first, but food made it look anything but that as an inital five-round spree on the offense had eUnited in firm control. A triple kill from Gage "Infinite" Green contributed towards ex-Singularity notching two rounds in reply, but those were the only ones they were able to grab for the remainder of the half as eUnited took eight straight for a 13-2 scoreline. food died just four times over the course of the fifteen rounds, putting up 26 frags and averaging 160 damage in the first half alone.
A pistol round win helped ex-Singularity sustain for another four rounds before a trio of frags from Anthony "vanity" Malaspina put eUnited back on the board, with the team taking the following round to grant themselves match point. A 1vs4 ace clutch by Ben "ben1337" Smith briefly kept ex-Singularity in the running, but a triple spray down in the ensuing round from food to put the player on 30 frags had eUnited take the map over the line at 16-7.
eUnited continued in their winning ways as the first four rounds of their own map pick, Vertigo, also went their way, although this time ex-Singularity managed to muster a better defense than on Train. Still, a number of multi-kill rounds from vanity, Ryan "freakazoid" Abadir, and Edgar "MarKE" Maldonado kept eUnited ahead 9-6 at the half.
The side swap bore little fruit for the ex-Singularity mix as a pistol win for eUnited kept vanity and company in firm control of the proceedings, winning six rounds in a row to attain match point. ex-Singularity were able to stall for three rounds, including an anti-eco ace from ben1337, but a comeback was not in the cards as one final round had eUnited claiming a 16-9 victory.
eUnited now await the winner of the second semifinal matchup between MIBR and ATK, set to take place tomorrow at 6 PM EDT.
