FURIA fail to win a single T-side round today
There was a lot of talk about the Brazilian team coming into the Major. Many were excited thanks to their new-look attack that was previewed at the Americas RMR which showcased a much more controlled and deliberate FURIA that allowed them to earn the singular Legends berth available.
The new-look approach to the game was a point of conversation in the lead-up to the event, with many hoping that a new FURIA could finally crack the code and make an extended run at the Major, potentially grabbing their first-ever trophy.
Unfortunately, with the way their first two matches went today, that dream might not be coming true. FURIA dramatically fell to Monte in a 16-7 loss and then to Ninjas in Pyjamas 16-8 in games where they failed to win a single T-sided round.
In the Monte game, FURIA appeared to get started slowly but soon caught their breath as they would string together enough rounds to secure their CT-side half 8-7. However, the team would fail to win the pistol and then fail to get a single bomb plant against the Ukrainian side.
As for the game against NIP, it would almost play out in the exact same way. FURIA was able to hold strong on the defense, but then simply unable to execute on their offense. During the Monte match, FURIA ran out of time twice on their T-side, while for the NIP game, they ran out of time three times, but had one successful plant that was later defused.
The matches certainly do not show any encouraging signs for Brazilian fans, who might see the end of their journey tomorrow when they face off against G2.
