Liquid, FURIA, FaZe opponents locked in
Day 1 of the BLAST.tv Paris Major Legends has concluded, with storylines being thrown out of the window, upsets galore, and some of the wildest Counter-Strike that we have ever seen for the last CS:GO Major Championship.
After a surprising 2-0 day from Liquid which saw them defeat both 9INE and NAVI, they will now have their toughest battle yet against Heroic, who have looked utterly dominant in 2023. Heroic does have some trouble with North American teams, with how they lost to Evil Geniuses in the beginning of the year.
As for FURIA, they are in a dire situation after dramatically losing to Monte and Ninjas in Pyjamas. This will be the second time that FURIA has gone down 0-2 at a Major, the first being at IEM Katowice 2019, where the Brazilians would later be eliminated 1-3.
Now, FURIA has a very real chance of going 0-3 as they have to play G2, who have also dramatically fallen on the first day.
In a topsy-turvy first day where many expected FURIA to qualify for the playoffs and Liquid to be outmatched by stronger opponents, the expectations have now massively shifted for each team.
For Liquid, they have shown incredibly quality thanks to dominant victory over NAVI and many expect them to go further into the playoffs. For FURIA, the hope would be that they somehow pull off an incredible comeback to stay alive.
FaZe has also shockingly underperformed today, with a big loss to Heroic to start of their campaign and then a 16-12 upset loss to Into The Breach. A troubling time for Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken who had performed admirably during the Challengers Stage for his squad.
Liquid, FURIA, and FaZe will be playing tomorrow in BO3 battles that will determine their fate for the remainder of the event. Liquid and Heroic will square off in the first set of BO3 games while we will have untill the evening to see FURIA vs G2 and FaZe vs 9INE in battles for survival.
