ATK claim ESEA Cash Cup Circuit NA Cup #3
Since ESEA revamped the format for Cash Cups, more teams have been participating in the weekly competitions, with this last week's tournament featuring 65 teams.
With this win, ATK are now second in the overall standing, just behind EG Black, who have won the first two editions of the North American Cash Cup circuit cups.
ATK were seeded as the #1 team for the cup and their journey dictated that they would face #2 seed Strife in the grand final. Out of nine maps played, they just allowed the opposition to score 10+ rounds in four of them, dropping one map in the process, precisely against Strife in the final match.
Strife's path was even better until the grand final, as they didn't allow anyone to score more than 10 rounds, except ATK in the series they lost.
ATK vs. Strife started out on Strife's Mirage, but it would go ATK's way, as the South African organization posted 11 round wins on the CT-side half. The second half was more balanced, but the lead was too much for Strife to crawl back on their own pick.
ATK's pick of Inferno would also go to the "away" team but in a much closer match. The first half saw Strife taking a 9-6 lead despite ATK's 5-0 start. The second half had ATK running to catch their deficit, but falling very short, after blowing the chance to go to overtime and ended up losing the map 16-14.
The decider was Overpass and ATK showed up with a good T-side strategy, being able to score nine rounds on the attacking side. After the side change, ATK managed to maintain the lead despite Strife's efforts to come back into the game, but not managing to do enough to overcome ATK. The map would end 16-11 in favor of ATK and the team would claim the $4,000 and the 150 points.
After the third cup, the top-6 teams in the ESEA Cash Cup Circuit North America are:
1. EG Black - 300 points
2. ATK - 150 points
3. timbermen - 100 points
4. Davenport - 75 points
5. Detonate - 75 points
6. Strife - 75 points
