Saints exit Kato; NA leaves winless
Early this morning Saints were set to face the Asian side HSG in the Group A elimination match at ESL Impact Katowice 2023. Unfortunately for American fans, our last hope in Saints were also unable to take series win at the event are were eliminated, as with CLG Red earlier in the event.
Their match kicked off on their own map pick of Overpass, where they started on the T-side. Unable to win the pistol, Saints were sent into a spiralling loss streak of nine rounds, before finally claiming the first to their name. Only being able to secure one more rounds in the half, they HSG were ahead with a scoreline of 12:3 at half-time. Opening the second half, HSG claimed three consecutive T-side rounds, closing the map with a 16:2 win.
The second map, Inferno picked by HSG, opened in a similar fashion where Saints were unable to win the pistol, this time on the CT-side. By half-time, they had only secured two rounds and HSG were looking for to end out the series quickly after another 12:3 half. That's exactly what happened next, with Saints being unable to prosper on the T-side, giving up the map 16:2 to HSG once again who take the overall series 2-0.
With Saints and CLG Red now both eliminated, the only Americas hopes at the event remain with Brazilian sides FURIA and B4. HSG have now moved on to face B4 in the Group A decider match which is currently tied 1-1 in the series.
