They have to be FURIAous
FURIA faced off against their Mongolian opponent in the final matchup of the IEM Katowice Play-In stage where the victor would head off to the Group Stage. The Brazilians were the heavy favorites, despite IHC upsetting their compatriot's paiN yesterday in a 2-0 victory.
The match started off on IHC's pick of Nuke, where it was clear that yesterday's shock victory was just the start of IHC's renaissance. They would get out to an early 6-2 lead on their T-side, but that would be all they get for the first half as FURIA stormed back to separate themselves 9-6.
But with FURIA switching to the T-side, they would not be as effective. IHC seemed overly prepared for whatever was thrown at them. FURIA would win the pistol, but IHC would hold strong to take home a 16-14 victory.
FURIA looked to recover on their map pick of Mirage, but it would not be the comfortable game that they would have expected or hoped. FURIA would lose the pistol and struggle to execute effectively on their T-side as they only claimed seven rounds.
IHC continued to look staunch in their defense. With FURIA now moving to the CT side, there was hope that the Brazilians could find their form, but that hope would be quickly dashed. IHC capitalized and overwhelmed the Brazilians at every opportunity. They would separate themselves and gain a 15-10 lead, but FURIA would battle back and force overtime. FURIA would somehow clean sweep on their CT-side of the extra rounds and then finish it off to secure Mirage 19-16.
With a miraculous comeback on the CT side happening for FURIA all the momentum, and a sigh of relief, was in the cards for the Brazilians. They would start off their first half on the T-side and after trading a number of rounds, would find their rhythm and bring it to a comfortable 9-6 half after trading rounds in the beginning. The second half was even more detrimental for FURIA as they would be unable to deter the hyper-aggressive shooting from the Mongolians as they fall down almost too easily 16-11.
FURIA will now look towards ESL Pro League after an incredibly disappointing run at IEM Katowice.
