BIG squash Complexity comeback
After showing improvement at BLAST Spring Groups where they took down EG and were just two rounds shy of beating NAVI to make the Spring Finals, Complexity come into the Katowice Play-in with high hopes of making the main event. However, they were dealt a tough opening match in BIG who recently beat fellow NA team Liquid 2-0 in the BLAST tournament.
The BO1 was set to be decided on the new map Anubis, a map that both teams have demonstrated early prowess on. It started off all in favor of the German side as BIG ran to a 4-0 start on their T side. Complexity finally got a round on the board where some early aggression from AWPer Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli gave them control of the round. Florian "syrsoN" Rische was showing early signs of dangerous form as he pieced together three kills to break open the Complexity defense.
To compound the NA sides syrsoN problem, Ricky "floppy" Kemery lagged out in a 4v4 situation with the score at 5-2 an incredibly frustrating situation as Complexity looked well placed to take the round before the pc issues. Once the game got restarted the German team exploited Complexity's 2 man B setup and ran off to a 11-4 score at the half.
The BIG team continued their steamroll in the second half as they locked up the first three rounds of the half to take a 14-4 lead. Complexity put together a comeback as Michael "Grim" Wince pushed them to within four rounds of the Germans. Despite the late fightback from Complexity, BIG closed out the game 16-12 forcing the NA side into the lower bracket where they will face off against Polish team Permitta in their next match.
