Davenport do it all
In a monumental win for Davenport University, the scholastic accomplishments of the squad are recognized with the first ever win of ESEA NA Advanced by a collegiate program. Colin "koi" Thor, head coach of the Davenport D1 team, has successfully guided the team back into ESL Challenger League after suffering a difficult season the last time around.
The squad, built around the young star William "spek" Smith, were able to cruise through the regular season on a 14-2 record, suffering losses to Eros and 1JIN, both of which went down to the wire as 14-16 defeats. Despite the trouble against Eros and 1JIN, Davenport did not have to face off against either of them in the playoffs where they did not drop a single map on the way to the finals.
In their Grand Finals game against Limitless, a rematch of their Upper Final which Davenport won 2-0, Limitless would not go down as easy the second time around. Davenport entered the matchup with a map advantage given their entry from the Upper Bracket, while Limitless would have to come from behind.
That did not deter the young squad as they pushed back and were able to take Davenport's first map pick, as well as their own, immediately jumping to a 2-1 lead. Both maps went the full distance, 16-14, causing each side to feel the effects of fatigue in this drawn out battle. However with their back against the wall, Davenport took control for the rest of the match, dispatching the Denver Bronco-backed org on Nuke and Inferno to take home the top prize.
