Sadokist removed from IEM Rio Major after incident
Dust2.us has learned that Canadian commentator Matthew "Sadokist" Trivett has been removed from the talent lineup at the IEM Rio Major due to an incident taking place after hours last night. According to our sources with knowledge of the situation, Trivett's removal from the event came after the caster was allegedly intoxicated which resulted in an altercation at the player hotel, requiring emergency services to be called.
Trivett had been conspicuously absent from day one of the IEM Rio Legends Stage broadcast, with Anders Blume taking over his casting duties and reuniting with Jason "moses" O'Toole. Importantly, Anders' original role for the Major was as a Skybox telestrator, raising questions about his sudden change in role.
Dust2.us reached out to ESL for comment, with the tournament organizer confirming an incident did happen with the following statement:
We can confirm that an incident took place last night involving Sadokist. As a result of this, Anders has stepped in to commentate for the remainder of the tournament. We have no further comments and would like the focus to remain on the competition.
Dust2.us has also reached out to Sadokist for comment, with the commentator not responding to a request for comment by the time of publication.
