Spirits rise in FiReLEAGUE
Latin American side 9z have been eliminated from the FiReLEAGUE 2022 Global Finals at the hands of Spirit in a 2-0 affair. With this win, Spirit are now set to face paiN in the event's grand final, set to start today at 03:20PM.
The series kicked off on 9z's pick of Dust2, and although Spirit secured the first pistol round, 9z were the ones who managed to carve an early 3-1 lead. This lead was not to last, however, as Spirit put up a staunch defense for the remainder of the half, as 9z could only snatch two more rounds throughout the half as Spirit claimed a 10-5 lead.
Now on the defending side themselves, 9z look poised to make a comeback as they locked down the first five rounds to even the scoreline 10-10. Despite 9z quickly closing the gap, Spirit composed themselves to claim a five-round streak of their own to secure match point. 9z managed a few more rounds from this point, but Spirit eventually claimed the last necessary round to steal 9z's pick 16-12.
With the series turning to Ancient, Spirit was locked in as they rebounded from an early T-side pistol loss to a six round run to bring the score to 6-2. The Russians were simply unstoppable as they expanded their T-side lead and would close out the half 9-6. 9z showed promise as they were climbing back late on their CT-side, but it wasn't enough.
The deficit would prove to be their undoing as the second half wasn't even much of a story to unfold. Spirit took their CT-side and dominated only conceding one round en-route to a 16-7 win.
