Denial to play as Sons of Scoots in StarLadder Americas Minor SA Closed Qualifier
After receiving financial assistance last week from Scott "SirScoots" Smith to enable them to stay in Brazil, Denial's Eduardo "Link" Osuna has revealed that the team intends to play the upcoming StarLadder Berlin Major South America Closed Qualifier under the tag "Sons of Scoots".
The name change for the team follows "the 50th day of contract breach with Denial" according to Link, with the players now refusing to represent the organization in-game. A second tweet from Link says that the team are now "working towards a solution" with the organization, although a timeline for a resolution is unknown.
A tweet from Denial's former not-CEO Zachary "Xac" Smith indicated that the non-payment was "due to [the players] being in Brazil" and that they "cannot be paid until they return to their home country", with Dust2.us being informed that the players have been told they can't be paid due to "international money laundering laws." The staff at Dust2.us hope that international players from Cloud9, Renegades, ATK, MIBR, and more have the opportunities to return home soon so that they too, can be paid.
Sons of Scoots are set to take on 9z in their opening matchup for the South America Closed Qualifier tomorrow, with the double-elimination best-of-three bracket also featuring a number of notable names such as INTZ, paiN, Isurus, and Sharks. Only two teams from the qualifier will move on to the Americas Minor, whereas the North American equivalent will advance an additional six teams to complete the team list.
