Drone and Peeker's Advantage almost missed day two after Drone picked up an Overwatch ban while DM'ing last night.

Bad News Bears and Peeker's Advantage advance to Americas Minor Closed Qualifier

A day full of forfeits, internet trouble, and power outages saw Bad News Bears and Peeker's Advantage make the Closed Qualifier.

The third Americas Minor qualifier has come to an end, with Bad News Bears and Peeker's Advantage claiming spots in the Closed Qualifier.

The day started off with one of the qualifier's top teams almost having to forfeit as Peeker’s Advantage’s Taylor "Drone" Johnson was initially going to be unable to play due to having picked up an Overwatch ban for "griefing" on his main account. Luckily, following a timely intervention by a StarLadder admin, FACEIT allowed Drone to play on an alternate account.

Following this, the third qualifier experienced more issues as Ragin Foxes and Cyclone forfeited their matches against Legacy of Desi Boys and Bad News Bears.

Moving on, the round of sixteen finally began in earnest with The Quest dominating Glizzy Gang 16-1, and ex-Zone also crushing Ohio Meat Wagon 16-1. The next two matches to conclude saw New England Whalers overcome Holo 16-10, and Prospects narrowly win against Hysteria 16-14. The final matchup of the round of sixteen saw Mythic best LiviD 16-12, with the stream team using Donovan "zNf" Froid as a stand-in for James "Hazed" Cobb, due to Hazed experiencing internet trouble.

In the opening matchup of the quarterfinals, The Quest decimated Legacy of Desi Boys, making quick work of Steven "rooRoooo" Herrell's mixteam with a 16-3 victory on Nuke.

The first semifinal saw underdogs New England Whalers take on Peeker's Advantage on Dust2 and Vertigo. On Dust2, New England Whalers were immediately placed on the backfoot as although they won the opening pistol round, Peeker's Advantage would completely overwhelm them, closing out the half with a massive 12-3 lead. Switching sides, New England Whalers won the pistol round once more, though Peeker's Advantage would promptly close out map one by claiming the next four rounds in a row.

Moving onto Vertigo, New England Whalers would start the map off by again winning the pistol round and the following round. Peeker's Advantage then claimed seven rounds in a row to take the lead. After this, New England Whalers would find three more rounds though Peeker's Advantage would go on to close out the half with a 10-5 lead.

Switching sides, New England Whalers would go 4/4 in the series by winning the pistol round. They would build off of this to close the round difference, tying up the score 10-10. However, Peeker's Advantage would end any chance of a New England Whalers comeback by winning the next six rounds in a row to end the series with a 16-10 scoreline. During the series, David "DAVEY" Stafford led the server with a 1.69 rating alongside a 114 ADR.

The final match of the third qualifier saw Bad News Bears face off against The Quest. Starting the action off on Dust2, Bad News Bears started the series in a strong position, ending their T-side with an 11-4 lead. Switching sides, The Quest would attempt to mount a comeback, winning eight out of the first ten rounds on their T-side, in the end though Bad News Bears were able to close out map one 16-12 by finding three rounds in a row.

Moving onto Inferno, The Quest started the map off in the lead claiming the first six rounds in a row. Immediately afterwards though, Bad News Bears found seven rounds in a row to take the lead. Reversing fortunes once more, The Quest would regain their lead and end the half 8-7 after finding the last two rounds. Switching sides, The Quest won the opening pistol and the following two rounds on their CT-side, before Bad News Bears found four rounds of their own to tie things up. The two teams would continue to trade rounds, though in the last few rounds of the map The Quest would pull ahead and force a third map after finding three rounds in a row.

The back and forth series ended disappointingly after Logan "Voltage" Long's internet went out before the start of the thrid map. The Quest would attempt to play the first few rounds of the half, however after realizing their grim chances of putting up any serious opposition in a 4v5, The Quest opted to forfeit Overpass, allowing Bad News Bears to advance on to the Closed Qualifiers.
