FaNg: "Going to a full English-speaking team is a little bit different for [hallzerk]"
Starting off the gauntlet, Complexity had to face off against OG in a do or die match. Winner goes on to face FaZe, loser drops down to the Showdown. While Complexity would eventually go on to lose that best-of-three, Justin "FaNg" Coakley gave an interview with James Banks before the match to get a glimpse into Complexity's state of mind and standing in the tournament.
Looking onto the Group Stage, what do you make of it?
Honestly coming into it I think we had a pretty good group. All the teams we're looking at I feel like we've played in practice, so we have a pretty good understanding coming into our games.
And in terms of your first game, you're going against OG going into this best-of-three. Overpass has certainly looked good for you guys, but was your confidence knocked at all after that NAVI game when you replayed them?
Honestly, no. I think going into it the boys were a little tired, so we're working on making sure we're fully composed throughout the game and keeping our energy levels high and keeping our communications high, so just riding those highs I guess.
And in terms of confidence for you guys, have you talked about what happens when things do go a little bit wrong at the start?
I told the guys even before this too to stay composed because rounds like that are gonna happen sometimes. Just making sure we have plans and we're not falling short any time one of those rounds falls through. Make sure we're staying composed and we have the energy there throughout each and every player. I'm gonna make sure I do that with the guys today,
So you're the hype man when it comes to this ride. So we've got JT at the brains and you bringing the hype?
Yeah, I'd say so. It's kinda the loadout we've got going for our team.
Love it, and that's what we want to see. Also with hallzerk coming in, he's actually done so much good work when it comes to fitting in from what I see right now. What things do you think he still needs to work on to be completely comfortable with you guys?
I think for Håkon he needs to take more time to get fully up to date on the team. Obviously going to a full English-speaking team is a little bit different for him. I know a lot of us tend to talk a bit fast and the way we relay information is faster for him. So its catching up with that, and I think that honestly will just come with time. Making sure he just feels comfortable and confident whats on his mind, whether its not understand a call, asking us to repeat it. It's a super good environment for him to learn and get up to date with an English-speaking team.
Losing that match-up against OG, Complexity are sent to the showdown stage to continue their BLAST Premiere run. Next on schedule for them is ESL Pro League Season 16 beginning September 14th.
