VINI put up ridiculous numbers against Spacestation

Brazil dominates first day of ECS Season 7 Week 3

The final week of direct qualification is on, and four teams now remain in the running.

The first day of the third week of ECS has concluded, with eight teams having competed for the final automatic qualification spot for the London finals in June.

The first game to conclude was the match between FURIA and Spacestation, with the two teams vetoing to play on Cache, Nuke and Mirage. Cache started off well for the Americans, taking the pistol and first anti-eco, before it fell apart for them in the third round. From there, the Brazilian team won ten rounds in a row to control the map. The two ping-ponged at the end of the half, but it was FURIA who were 11-4 ahead at the break. The second half was a repeat of the first, with Spacestation eventually falling 16-6. Vinicius "VINI" Figueiredo was his team's strongest player, finishing with a 1.98 rating after 141.4 in ADR.

Nuke followed, and it was more of the same for FURIA. They opened on the pistol round and ended up winning all bar one round on their CT-side for a 14-1 lead. The second half began with Spacesation picking up two more consolation rounds, but FURIA ended it shortly after with a 16-3 score.

Running concurrently with the above match was a showdown between Singularity and Luminosity, which went to all three maps. In a hotly contested series, both teams took their own maps before moving to the decider of Overpass, where a more comprehensive team showing from the Brazilians earned them the victory.

The next two series looked much more like the one between FURIA and Spacestation, as Cloud9 and INTZ made quick work of Bad News Bears and ATK, respectively. As first reported by Dust2.us, the Bears did indeed show up in the server with Josh "shinobi" Abastado instead of Will "dazzLe" Loafman — and then René "cajunb" Borg had a field day.

INTZ once again made use of Jaccob "yay" Whiteaker in place of Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes, as the latter still remains in Brazil dealing with personal matters. The change didn't have much impact on the Brazilian side, as Lucas "destiny" Bullo was more than able to pick up the slack.
