Cloud9 spice things up with cajunb
After Fabien "kioShiMa" Fiey was released from Cloud9 on Sunday, the organization have announced their replacement for the Frenchman.
In his place comes René "cajunb" Borg, the former OpTic player who's contract ran out with the Texas-based organization on April 1st. He had previously been benched on the all-Danish team on March 28th, to make way for the additions Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen and Nikolaj "niko" Kristensen.
cajunb had been part of OpTic since joining as part of the Danish-Americas roster at the start of 2018, before seeing the team transition into a fully Danish roster alongside Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke in April of the same year. With OpTic, he secured qualification to ESL Pro League Season 9, as well as second place finishes at DreamHack Open Summer and cs_summit 3. More recently, the team failed to secure qualification to the IEM Katowice Major having finished 7-8th at the Europe Minor.
This is the latest move for Cloud9, having more recently brought in Daniel "vice" Kim on trial and welcoming back Maikil "Golden" Selim in the team's post-Major reshuffle. The re-additions have seen Robin "flusha" Rönnquist, Jordan "Zellsis" Montemurro and, more recently, kioShiMa released from the team's IEM Katowice roster.
This move will now mean Cloud9 have, for the moment, lost their spot at the upcoming StarLadder Berlin Major. Unless they once again utilize the "coach trick" with one of Zellsis, flusha or kioShiMa, they will need to re-qualify from the Americas Minor.
This move sees Cloud9's roster as follows:
- Timothy "autimatic" Ta
- William "RUSH" Wierzba
- Maikil "Golden" Selim
- René "cajunb" Borg
- Daniel "vice" Kim (Trial)
- Ronald "Rambo" Kim (Coach)
The new-look Cloud9 are next in action at next week's BLAST Pro Series Miami, held over April 12th-13th. They are set to face Astralis in the first round of the event.
