Oceanic roster lost at sea after two-week voyage
Oceanic have announced that they have released their ESEA Advanced squad, who they signed just over two weeks ago prior to the start of Advanced playoffs.
During the team's short tenure with the organization, Jimmy "Nurfed" McFadden and co. were able to defeat Hot Ass in the Advanced Season 30 Round of 16, but fell to Thunder Logic 0-2 in the quarterfinals to lock themselves out of the top four. The team still has a shot at a spot in MDL Relegation, with a match against slashLEVEL later today at 9 PM EDT offering them their first of two chances in the lower bracket.
In a statement on Twitter, Oceanic cited their acquistion of the CS:GO roster as "the wrong time for Oceanic to focus solely on CS:GO", going on to say that they "would not be able to completely support this team" until they improve their internal infrastructure.
When reached out to by Dust2.us, a member of the team was able to confirm that the CS:GO roster accounted for a large percentage of the organization's budget, and that they would be unable to support them in the long-term, "especially if [they] made MDL." The organization parted ways with the players on good terms, rounding out their statement with "this isn't the end of Oceanic CS:GO".
Following their release, the Oceanic roster will revert to the Big Frames tag for their upcoming matches. The five-man lineup consists of:
- Ryan "Church" Church
- Andy "devastation" Parr
- Liam "Welshy" Newhouse
- Jimmy "Nurfed" McFadden
- Thomas "tconnors" Connors
