Swole Patrol look to dazzLe, Mauisnake analyzes for Spacestation in DreamHack Masters Dallas qualifier
With the DreamHack Masters Dallas open qualifier starting tonight, offering four places in the Closed Qualifier, there are two more rosters in the running with notable changes.
The first roster under the microscope is Swole Patrol, whose have been in a state of flux since eUnited raided three of their players in February. The majority of the roster is the same one that competed in the DreamHack Open Rio qualifier, with the difference being the presence of former eUnited player Will "dazzLe" Loafman in place of Maxim "wippie" Shepelev. wippie was himself a replacement for benched compLexity member Brad "ANDROID" Fodor, who now seems poised for a move to Envy.
Perhaps fittingly, Swole Patrol's most recent addition was released by eUnited when the organization acquired their new trio. The move sees dazzLe link up with former eUnited teammate Michael "dapr" Gulino, who was also released at that time. While it is unclear if dazzLe's move is permanent, the team have until Friday, March 22nd, to finalize their roster for the upcoming ESL Pro League season.
Swole Patrol's roster for the DreamHack Masters Dallas open qualifier will be:
- Braxton "swag" Pierce
- Jordan "Zellsis" Montemurro
- Michael "dapr" Gulino
- Gage "Infinite" Green
- Will "dazzLe" Loafman
- Danny "fRoD" Montaner (Coach)
While not in the playing department like Swole Patrol, Spacestation are set to bring aboard Alex "Mauisnake" Ellenberg as their new analyst. Mauisnake last played competitively in August 2018 with the doomed AZIO roster, before retiring to focus on analysis, casting and content creation. His position in that field has seen him act as a research assistant for Duncan "Thorin" Shields, as well as commentating at a number of events, including the most recent Fragadelphia and a number of ESEA MDL matches.
Dust2.us has learned that while Mauisnake will begin as an analyst for the squad, there is potential for him to transition into a coaching position later on.
This means Spacestation's roster for the DreamHack Masters Dallas qualifier will be:
- Ryan "Snakes" Amann
- Michael "Grim" Wince
- Chad "Oderus" Miller
- David "DAVEY" Stafford
- Anthony "gMd" Guimond
- Alex "Mauisnake" Ellenberg (Analyst)
Another interesting roster submission comes from Europe. With rumors abounding that the Danish duo of Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke and Jakob "JUGi" Hansen will be joining Cloud9, the two have signed up for OpTic in the European open qualifier. While this does not mean the move to Cloud9 is dead, it is worth keeping an eye on as both teams have until Friday to determine their ESL Pro League roster.
The DreamHack Masters Dallas open qualifier kicks off tonight at 6:00 PM EDT, and there is still time to sign-up and get in on the action.
