Envy's run at the Minor ends as they fall to North
Envy have bowed out of the IEM Katowice Minor third-place playoffs after falling to Winstrike in their opening best-of-one, and later to North in a 2-0 loss.
Envy started the day off being thrashed by Winstrike on Overpass, who only allowed Envy four rounds on their CT side, before going on an eight-round win streak to finish the map off 16-4. Envy's troubles were largely the product of a monster performance from Jan” wayLander" Rahkonen, who ended the map with an incredible 2.46 rating.
In the lower bracket, Envy faced off against North, who had fallen there after suffering an 16-8 upset defeat to Chinese team ViCi. The first map in the series took the two teams to Envy's map pick of Train, where they started off immediately on the backfoot after an eight-round run by North. Envy were able to mount a minor resistance, however the half still ended massively in North's favor at 13-2. On their own CT side, Envy began a comeback by mounting their own run of rounds after winning the pistol, putting the score at 9-13. This comeback was short lived as North would be able to string three more rounds to finish Train off 16-9.
Moving onto Mirage, Envy once again lost the pistol round, allowing North to gain an early. Unlike previous maps in the bracket, Envy were able to rack up some rounds and although they didn't win the half, it ended in a manageable 9-6 deficit. North were able to bring the score up to 13-6, and although Envy were able to eventually gain five more rounds, North closed out the series with an 11-16 win.
Following Envy's exit from the Minor, it is unknown what will happen for the squad and karrigan, with the in-game leader still on FaZe's books.
