INTZ edge closer to making the Major

Envy and INTZ join NRG and FURIA in Americas Minor playoffs

There will be an even split of North American and Brazilian teams in the playoffs.

Day two of the IEM Katowice Americas Minor has concluded, and with it the group stage has also come to an end. With Envy and FURIA finishing top of the groups on Friday, the final two teams looking to join the playoffs had their chance today.

But first off were the elimination matches. The first to complete was between oNe and eUnited beginning on Cache, where eUnited lost a 12-3 lead at the half to eventually lose the map 16-14, even with Austin "Cooper-" Abadir leading the scoreboard with a 1.37 rating. The second map was much less flattering for eUnited, as they were demolished 16-4 by a oNe side lead by Victor "iDk" Torraca's 123.9 ADR performance.

This saw the tournament move on to the group decider matches, of which both were  rematches of the opening games. First up was between Envy and oNe and started with oNe taking a very strong 16-8 win on Train, which after an early struggle was owned by oNe throughout. Envy opened the second map, Dust2, strong, taking a 6-1 lead before oNe narrowly won the half for themselves at 8-7.

The second half began with Envy narrowly taking the lead, before oNe bounced back. Control of the game was close towards the end with the Americans taking map point at the precarious 15-14, before oNe forced the map to overtime, where Envy overcame their opponents and secured the 19-17 win, with Stephen "reltuC" Cutler leading the server in kills, reaching 29.

The final map was another close one, with Overpass starting with Envy taking the pistol round before oNe controlled the middle portion of the half to go 7-2 ahead. With oNe leading at the half, a 9-6 score, the second half began with Envy nearly meeting the score before oNe wrestled into a 13-9 lead. The remainder of the second half, however, belonged to Envy in all but one round, as Finn "karrigan" Andersen saw his team through to the 16-14 win with a 1.36 rated performance.

The final match to be played was between Bravado and INTZ. Inferno commenced the best-of-three, and it wasn't long before INTZ made it their playground. After taking the pistol round they restricted the South Africans to just three rounds in the first half, as they made use of their CT-side to race to a 12-3 lead. The second half was a mere formality for the Brazilian team, as they wrapped up all four rounds to take the 16-3 lead, a performance matched by kNgV-'s 126.2 ADR and 2.22 rating.

It was to be an uphill battle for Bravado, but a challenge they looked to meet as they took the first four rounds of Mirage. From there, however, INTZ were certain of winning and edged further and further into control. Two rounds towards the end of the half only delayed INTZ's lead as they went into the break 8-7 ahead. The second half began with INTZ in control, furthering their lead. The two teams wrestled for the lead, with Bravado briefly regaining the lead, before Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes rounded out the match with a 16-12 win.
