Report: Cloud9 back away from Infinite; target Zellsis
Following previous reports suggesting that Maikil "Golden" Selim may miss IEM Katowice, it now seems that Cloud9 is potentially targeting Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro as his replacement for the Major.
We initially reported that Cloud9 were in negotiations to sign Gage "Infinite" Green to a three-month trial contract, however according to a new report from Jarek "DeKay" Lewis at VPEsports negotiations seem to have stalled following community backlash over his previous behavior with past teams.
Zellsis is a member of the Swole Patrol squad which recently qualified for ESL Pro League Season 9 and attended his first large LAN at EPICENTER 2018, where the team was knocked out in the last place following losses to Liquid and NiP.
This move would create additional problems for Swole Patrol, who Dust2.us has learned were scrimming with Zellsis as recently as last night. They are currently also contending with Ryan "freakazoid" Abadir potentially replacing Yassine "Subroza" Taoufik on Ghost, along with the loss of Brandon "Ace" Winn leaving the team due to his loan expiring.
With Zellsis potentially stepping in, Cloud9's roster would look as follows:
- Timothy "autimatic" Ta
- Will "RUSH" Wierzba
- Robin "flusha" Rönnquist
- Fabien "kioShiMa" Fiey
- Jordan "Zellsis" Montemurro (Stand-in)
- Soham "valens" Chowdhury (Coach)
- Maikil "Golden" Selim (Inactive)
With the IEM Katowice roster lock rapidly approaching in four days, an announcement would be expected soon.
