Cloud9 invited to iBUYPOWER Masters 2019
Cloud9 has received the third North American invite to the Los Angeles event after Luminosity and Ghost earlier this month, with the event set to run from January 19th-20th next year.
It is currently unknown what rosters both teams will bring to the event as both appear to be contemplating changes as they prepare for the 2019 season. For Ghost, rumors have swirled that the team are preparing to replace Yassine "Subroza" Taoufik with Ryan "freakazoid" Abadir. However, according to a recent Dust2.us interview, WARDELL and neptune stated that the team was still "still looking at potential players" and that nothing has been set in stone yet.
For Cloud9, the state of their roster is also up in the air as Mikail "Golden" Selim's ongoing illness has forced the team to look towards replacing the embattled player following a tumultuous year. After the team overcame FaZe to win the ELEAGUE Boston Major at the start of the year, they have struggled to find consistent results or a consistent roster. As the team transitioned from its all-American roots into an EU-NA mix, their only notable placement came at the tail-end of the year with a 3rd place finish at BPS Lisbon following a notable performance by ex-Fragsters player Ismail "refrezh" Ali.
As for Golden's replacement numerous options have been raised, including young American Gage "Infinite" Green who has been pegged as a frontrunner to replace Golden. Whatever Cloud9 decides to do with their roster, they will likely use this event to prepare for the Major, as the New Challengers stage is set to start in Katowice on February 13th.
With the majority of the participants now confirmed, the team list for iBUYPOWER Masters 2019 is:
