Rogue, Envy get wins in StarSeries qualifier
The first semifinal match of the StarSeries i-League Season 7 qualifier has ended, with Rogue booking a ticket to the grand final over FURIA, where they will face compLexity or Envy later today.
Rogue's series against FURIA started off poorly for the North America side, as FURIA was able to rack up a 12-3 Terrorist half on their map pick of Train. Even though Rogue would go on to lose Train, they kept the match competitive by mounting a small comeback which saw the map ending in a 16-10 finish.
On Nuke, Rogue took an early lead on their CT-side, however their fortunes began to take a turn for the worse during round 18 when FURIA won a pivotal force-buy off the back of a Scout 3k by Andrei "arT" Piovezan. FURIA converted this victory into a five-round win streak, tying the score 11-11. Rogue would narrowly take Nuke 16-14 after almost giving up an 15-11 lead, again prompted by losing a force-buy situation.
Moving into Overpass, Rogue were able to claim a slight 8-7 lead at the half. After this they ran away with the game, claiming the necessary nine rounds to win the series, while FURIA were only able to win two rounds on their Terrorist side.

Compared to the back-and-forth nature of the Rogue/FURIA match, the series between Envy and Luminosity was much more straightforward, as Envy seemed keen to avenge their DreamHack Atlanta loss to Luminosity. After gaining a slight lead on their T-side, Envy ran away with Train preventing Luminosity from claiming more than two rounds on their T-Side.
Mirage ended up being a closer affair, as Luminsoity were able to put Envy on the backfoot by narrowly winning the first-half 8-7. However, the situation would quickly change as Envy won their Terrorist pistol, converting it into a four round-run. Luminosity would then go on to answer back by winning four rounds of their own, regaining the lead at 12-11. Luminosity's lead was short-lived as the game quickly turned in Envy's favor after a triple-kill spray down bomb defense by "Nifty" that allowed Envy to take the lead once again at 13-12. After this, Luminosity were only able to claim one more round, paving the way for a 16-13 Envy victory.

The final semifinal match of the qualifier is set to be played today at 6 PM EST, and will see compLexity and Envy face-off to see who will be taking on Rogue afterwards at 10 PM EST. If Envy makes it to the qualifier finals, we will be guaranteed to see a new team attend a StarSeries event, as compLexity attended the previous iteration of the event last October.
