Heroic advance past Renegades, to Toyota Master Bangkok grand finals
Heroic have eliminated Renegades from Toyota Master Bangkok, leaving just themselves and TYLOO remaining in the running for a shot at the first place prize of $40,000.
Renegades kicked off their semifinal against Heroic on their own map pick of Inferno, opening up by taking the first pistol round for themselves. Although Heroic immediately reset Renegades to get on the board themselves, the Australians countered back to put themselves ahead once again.
Their lead didn't last long however, with Heroic prevailing to even up the score before pulling ahead 3-2. From here it was smooth sailing for Daniel "mertz" Mertz and co. as they racked up round after round, locking Renegades out of either bombsite as they worked their way up to a 13-2 halftime score and granting just one bomb plant in the process. Heroic left no room for a comeback as they took the first three rounds of the second half to close out the first map 16-2.
It was once again the CT side that shined in the opening half of Train, but this time it was Renegades who were in the drivers seat. Despite losing the pistol round, Renegades put themselves on the board by countering back in the second, pushing forward for a 9-1 lead. Heroic attempted to keep themselves competitive as they snagged two more rounds for themselves, but it was Renegades who closed out the half for a 12-3 lead swapping onto their T side.
This time the second half pistol round went to Renegades, pushing their lead up to 15-3. Heroic mustered two final rounds before Renegades nabbed their final round, taking the series to Mirage with a 16-5 scoreline.
The CT side domination continued as once again Heroic were reset after a pistol round win, allowing Renegades to almost mirror the score from Train by pulling ahead 8-1. Much like on Train, Heroic took two rounds before Renegades rallied back for two of their own, but this time around the final two rounds of the half were split between the sides for an 11-4 scoreline in Renegades' favor.
In contrast to the first two maps, it was Heroic who took control in the second half of Mirage. After finally securing a pistol round win and not being reset immediately afterwards, the Scandinavian squad plowed forward to snatch the lead out of Renegades' hands by stringing together ten rounds straight. Renegades kept themselves in the running by securing two rounds, but it was Heroic who took match point first, leading to the Australians forcing the map into overtime.
Heroic managed to narrowly pull ahead in overtime, granting Renegades just two of the six rounds to win out the deciding map 19-17, advancing themselves to the grand finals.
With Renegades eliminated, Heroic have advanced to face off against TYLOO in the best-of-five grand finals of Toyota Master Bangkok, set to kick off at 2 AM EST.
