Waves eGaming Opening Tournament delayed to Spring 2019
Waves eGaming has announced over social media that it has pushed back the starting date of its CS:GO Opening Tournament to spring of 2019, several months later than the event's initial start date, which was also previously delayed.
The CS:GO Opening Tournament was first set to kick off on September 28th, but was later pushed back to October 19th due to the venue's opening being delayed, before eventually being delayed to next year. It is currently unknown why the opening tournament was delayed, however the venue is expected to still open in the coming weeks.
Due to the abrupt nature of the delay, Waves eGaming have stated that they have reached out to teams for refunds and may compensate those with travel accomodations already set.
Prior to the announcement of the delay, ten complete teams were signed up for the tournament, including cantwinalan, who previously won the tournament's online qualifier under the BlackOut organization, winning $500 along with $2,500 in travel support.
With the event set to play out next year and the exact start date still unreleased, it is unknown whether any of the teams will still commit to attending the $10,000 event.
