Luminosity outshine NoTag and qualify for IEM Chicago
Luminosity have qualified for IEM Chicago 2018 after defeating NoTag in the South America qualifier 3-0 (Default, 16-4 Overpass, 16-7 Cache). This marks the first time the core of Henrique "HEN1" Teles, Lucas "LUCAS1" Teles, and Lucas "steel" Lopes will attend an IEM event since IEM Katowice 2017.
The pick of NoTag, Overpass, did not start well for the former NTC side, as they could only gather two rounds in the first half. They found the second half's pistol round, but the play of HEN1 was too much, and they fell 4-16 on map one.
NoTag got a much better start on LG's pick of Cache, as they took the first three rounds and even reset the Pro League side on round five. They lost grasp of the match however, and ended up with a 5-10 deficit at the half. This time is was Gabriel "NEKIZ" Schenato who stepped up for Luminosity and helped them to close out the map 16-7.
The new teamlist for IEM Chicago looks as follows:
Astralis | BIG | FaZe | Fnatic |
Liquid | MIBR | mousesports | Natus Vincere |
NRG | Renegades | AVANGAR | North |
eUnited | Luminosity | MVP PK | TBD |
The event is set to begin on November 6th and will have $250,000 on the line for the sixteen teams. The last qualifier will likely go to a UCC event, much like two previous events did with GG.BET Majestic and the Farmskins Championship.
