Bravado to StarSeries qualifier playoffs; Prospects stay alive
The second day of competition in Group B kicked off with Prospects taking on Really Old People for a chance to stay alive in the qualifier. The series began on Cache, with Prospects taking the initial lead 7-2. In the 10th round, Really Old People turned the tides of the game, winning the last six rounds of the half to take the lead 8-7. Really Old People continued to dominate Prospects in the second half, closing the map 16-9.
Prospects became more competitive on Inferno, with Blake "Strings" Stringer leading his team through a strong half 9-6. The second half proved to be even better for Prospects, with Really Old People unable to secure a round, giving Prospects the second map 16-6 and tying up the series.
On the decider map of Train, Prospects went full out, dominating Really Old People. While the elderly team was able to secure two rounds, those were the only points they had on the scoreline when Prospects ended the map 16-2 and took the series 2-1. Prospects will now proceed to the decider match for another chance to make the playoffs of the qualifier.
The next series of the day was the winners match, with Bravado taking on Dignitas. Bravado and Dignitas were closely matched on Train, with both teams trading rounds. Dignitas took the lead at the end of the first half, with an 8-7 scoreline. Bravado dominated in the second half, taking nine rounds to usurp Dignitas' small lead and take the first map 16-10.
Dignitas swung back on Dust2, taking the first three rounds before Bravado replied with three rounds of their own. Dignitas took the next five rounds in response, before Bravado replied once again with the last four rounds of the half, leaving Dignitas up 8-7 at halftime once again. Bravado's response continued in the second half, with the South Africans taking the lead 11-9. Peter "ptr" Gurney turned the tides in his team's favor as Dignitas swiped the last seven rounds they needed to take the map 16-11 and tie the series 1-1.
Both teams remained closely matched on Inferno, with Bravado taking the lead in the first half 8-7. Bravado took control of the map in the second half, with Johnny "JT" Theodosiou helping his team take the map 16-11 and the series 2-1.
Bravado will proceed to the qualifier playoffs; it has not yet been determined who they will face in the first round. Dignitas have been knocked down to the decider match, where they will take on Prospects for the last spot in the qualifier's playoffs bracket.
