Liquid ease past Fnatic in London
In the decider match for Group A at the ECS Season 5 Finals, Liquid defeated Fnatic 2-0 (16-5 Nuke, 16-13 Inferno). They have advanced to the playoffs while Fnatic have been eliminated.
Fnatic interestingly picked Nuke as their first map, possibly due to Richard "Xizt" Landström taking over the vetos. The map started very poor for the Swedes however, and Liquid racked up an 11-4 lead on the Terrorist side. Main star Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski ripped through Fnatic and the North Americans easily finished off map one 16-5.
Fnatic got a better start on Liquid's pick of Inferno, leading 8-2 at one point on their CT side. Liquid mounted a strong comeback however, and won 10 rounds in a row for their own lead of 12-8. With Nick "nitr0" Cannella fragging out, Liquid managed to close out the map 16-13 in the end, taking the series 2-0.
Liquid have advanced to the semifinals and will face the first place team from Group B, NRG, in their match tomorrow. This will be the second event in a row where NRG and Liquid have faced off in a playoff match, with NRG winning in Kiev.
