Na`Vi in three match thriller to knock out SK in Kiev
The final game of day six in Kiev saw the Brazilians of SK face home favorites Natus Vincere in a three map thriller. The two teams faced off on Inferno, Overpass and Mirage.
Inferno began the series, and as normal it was a thrilling game. SK took a 9-6 lead in the first half, partially in thanks to Marcelo "coldzera" David showing up with a big performance to take well needed rounds. The second half saw Na`Vi fight to even the map, before doing so to take match point on the 29th round. A close final round saw SK even it up, taking the game to overtime where some of the best plays were had, including a round where coldzera and s1mple one-upped each others' plays.
SK finally took the map 22-19 in the second overtime, but it was the fight between coldzera and s1mple that stole the show. The Brazilian secured a 1.41 rating with 42 kills, meanwhile the Ukrainian had just 41 on a 1.35, but it'd be the last time the latter player was behind all series.
Overpass was an utter whitewash for Na`Vi, managing to take seven rounds in a row in the first half to start their dominance. This time it was Ioann "Edward" Sukhariev and s1mple who were the stars of the show, with respective 1.92 and 1.81 ratings. A 12-3 half time score put them firmly ahead, before they comfortably rounded out the match with a 16-6 scoreline.
Mirage was the decider, and unfortunately for SK it was more of the second map on display. But this time the majority Brazilian team had a 7-4 lead in the first half, when coldzera could act in the match, before Na`Vi battled back to have an even 8-7 half. The second half was literally all Na`Vi, and all s1mple. Round after round on their CT-side went the Ukrainian team's way, with s1mple himself eventually finishing top of the scoreboard with 26 kills and a 1.68 rating after the 16-8 win.
The match finally ended at 3:29am local time, with both teams obviously exhausted. A strong performance was had from s1mple, who ended the game having tallied up 96 kills in total, with a +48 KDR and a 105.3 ADR over all three maps.
Tomorrow the games begin all over again, with NRG taking on North in the first game of the day, at 5am EDT. The second semifinal will be mousesports taking on Na`Vi at 8am EDT, before the final is scheduled for 11am EDT, pending potential delays.
