eUnited too strong for Swole Patrol, advance to Pro League Season 8
eUnited have defeated Swole Patrol in the ESEA MDL Season 27 final 2-1 (3-16 Nuke, 16-10 Inferno, 16-13 Overpass) and have secured a spot in Season 8 of the ESL Pro League. After failing to make it the last two promotion seasons, this core have finally made it to the prestigious top division of NA CS.
The first map Nuke was Swole Patrol's pick, and the fully American squad swept the board, picking up a strong 12-3 Counter-Terrorist half. After securing both pistol rounds in the game, Swole with Ryan "ryan" Welsh in the lead, also closed out the first four rounds of the second half to take Nuke 16-3.
The start of the second map did not go well for the eUnited side, and fell 5-10 on their CT half. However on the second half Kaleb "moose" Jayne turned up and the Skyler "Relyks" Weaver-led squad took 11 rounds in a row to close out Inferno 16-10 and extend the series another map.
eUnited seemed to get their second wind, as they got off to a strong start on Overpass and finished with a 10-5 CT scoreline at the half. They also quickly got up to 14 rounds on the Terrorist side, but a strong comeback by Swole put the eUnited side in danger of dropping the map. In the end though, a strong AWPing presence by Brandon "Ace" Winn helped eUnited to close out the map 16-13 and the series 2-1.
eUnited have now moved up to Pro League and will compete against the best teams in North America, much like they already have in ECS. Swole Patrol move down to relegation and will face ex-Splyce in about an hour. Both teams will still play in the Global Challenge event, which will begin tomorrow.
