apEX and co. proved too strong for their Australian opponents

G2 decimate Renegades over two maps

The French side showed an absolute dominant display in their first game in Kiev.

G2 and Renegades were the next pairing in the opening games of the StarSeries i-League Season 4 finals in Kiev, Ukraine. The two teams were set to play against each other on Cobblestone, Mirage and Inferno.

Cobblestone began with Renegades taking the pistol on their T-side, but G2 immediately chimed in with a Scout-heavy forcebuy to instantly start going ahead, helped along by Richard "shox" Papillon taking an ace. Renegades secured the first buy round, but it was the Frenchmen who were the dominant force throughout.

With Dan "apEX" Madesclaire starting to ramp up his performances throughout the first half, G2 kept on building a strong lead. Although there were some rounds Renegades kept close, it wasn't until the eleventh round of the game for the Australians to get another round. Although the French side took the next two rounds, Renegades secured the final rounds of the first half to try and keep in the game, albeit 10-5 down.

The second half saw Renegades' CT-side take the pistol and two anti-ecos, featuring a Noah "Nifty" Francis ace, but from there it was just a show of force from G2. Round after round saw the French side edge closer to match point. Even though Renegades kept it close in some rounds, it wasn't enough to prevent the French onslaught.

The penulitimate round saw Renegades take it close against G2, but in the end it was Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt's SG556 contributions to slam close Cobblestone 16-8.

Mirage began with Renegades' T-side secure the pistol round, but in a depressing repeat of Cobblestone G2 instantly answered back with a bunch of upgraded pistols to start a strong run of rounds. kennyS and NBK- started a slaughter operation as Renegades just looked completely lost.

With G2 9-1 up, Justin "jks" Savage and Aaron "AZR" Ward combined to take Renegades' second, and final, round of the half before G2 just returned to familiar form. apEX and shox started to chime in with the final rounds of the half to take a phenomenal lead at 13-2.

Renegades failed to claim the second pistol round, with G2 securing it in comfortable fashion. With G2 looking to quickly close the game out, Renegades nearly took a forcebuy round to prevent the French side from securing match point, but kennyS individually proved too strong to get past. G2 repeated the  feat in the next round, taking Mirage 16-2.
