FaZe outlast SK, claim second Legends slot at ELEAGUE Boston Major
The second and final 2-0 match of the third day saw SK and FaZe face off on Cache to claim the second Legends slot at the ELEAGUE Boston Major.
The Brazilians got off to a roaring start as they took the first three rounds with minimal losses. A quick reply by FaZe in the fourth round immediately made way for SK to reset the Europeans, and from there Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo kept up the pressure as he continued to call fast-paced strats.
SK steamrolled their way to nine rounds before a pistol buy from FaZe finally put a halt to the Brazilians' streak. Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovacs helped his team avoid a reset this time around, finding four kills with his AWP. With SK down to pistols, FaZe secured their fourth round in the half to keep themselves competitive in the match.
Epitacio "TACO" de Melo continued putting up numbers for his team as four kills granted SK their tenth round in the half, but the final round went the way of FaZe to bring the match to a 10-5 scoreline.
FaZe returned the favor in the second half as they demolished SK in turn, steamrolling their way to take the lead 13-10. Much like FaZe, SK was able to halt the Europeans after eight rounds, but also faced the exact same reset that was dealt to FaZe in the first half. A saved AWP from SK allowed FalleN to pick off three FaZe players to grant his side 12 rounds, but FaZe kept up their own fast pace to close out the match in the following two rounds.
FaZe have progressed to the playoffs and are the second team to claim Legends status after G2. SK reside in the 2-1 pool, and still have two chances to progress themselves. Next up to bat will be Cloud9 as they fight for their tournament lives against Virtus.pro, who have yet to impress in Atlanta.
