Legacy will not be able to compete in the NA MRQ

Valve defines Legacy's VRS region

Legacy will compete through the South American MRQ.

Valve has informed Legacy that they will need to compete in the South American Major Regional Qualifier (MRQ), as the Valve Regional Standings (VRS) are now divided into subregions in the Americas and Asia. It is North America and South America for the former and Oceania, East Asia, and West Asia for the latter.

The subregion a team is registered in is decided by the majority nationality of the players.

Our sister website Dust 2 Brasil reached out to Legacy and found out that the team will be returning to the US to compete in the ESL Challenger League NA, then go back to Brazil for the Major Regional Qualifier, and finally return to Stateside for IEM Dallas and, presumptively, the BLAST.tv Austin Major.

The MRQ for both Americas regions will run from April 15th to April 17th. The teams who place in the top-three will qualify for the Major, which now features three Swiss group stages, one more than previously in the recent Valve-sanctioned events.

I kind of dislike this... NA is getting more and more isolated from the wider scene.

Of course it means that 3 NA teams will make it to the major, which is certainly nice, but that also lowers the level of competition needed to get to that point which won't be good for NA teams in the long run I think.
