Space Soldiers narrowly clear Cloud9
The 0-1 games began with the Americans of Cloud9 taking on Turkey's Space Soldiers. With both teams looking to take their first wins in the main stage of the Major, it was a heated battle on Cobblestone.
Cloud9 began their CT-side with the pistol round, but were instantly shut down by Space Soldiers' force buy. The Turkish side pushed on with another two rounds until the the delayed first proper buy round, where Cloud9 came back into the game. Instead of being able to push back and get on a level playing field, Engin "ngiN" Kor came out with three kills to secure the site take for his team.
From there Cloud9 were essentially shut out of the half, with Ismailcan "XANTARES" Dörtkardeş and co. slowly taking six rounds in a row to keep themselves ahead. Cloud9 managed to secure two more rounds in the half, but it was Space Soldiers who closed the half out with a monstrous 11-4 lead.
The second half began with Cloud9 taking the pistol round, where Timothy "autimatic" Ta secured four kills on his glock, before following it up with the two anti-eco rounds. The first buy round looked like the Turkish team was to get back into the game, but Will "RUSH" Wierzba won the 1v1 to keep his team within the match.
Space Soldiers answered back in the following round, thanks to a marvelous eco round from the Turkish team. They pushed on for another two rounds, including Engin "MAJ3R" Küpeli taking the sweetest of eco frags - an eco ace to continue on his fantastic show. Cloud9 answered back in the following round, with a quick and swift B-site take. The Americans reached double figures in the game in the following round, causing Space Soldiers onto an eco.
With Cloud9 reaching 13 rounds, it was reaching nervous territory for their Turkish opponents. With Cloud9 looking to even the match up, Space Soldiers came out and finally secured match point. The Turkish team finally cleared the game up with a strong A-site hold, with Ahmet "paz" Karahoca securing an AWP ace in the final round.

This result sees Space Soldiers move on to tomorrow's 1-1 bracket, with Cloud9 heading to the dangerzone of the 0-2 bracket. The next game at the ELEAGUE Boston Major will be FaZe facing off against Vega Squadron, before G2 take on Team Liquid.
