G2 fall to Eternal Fire in BLAST Bounty Semifinals

G2 have missed out on the first LAN finals of the year.

Earlier today saw G2 face off against Eternal Fire in the first semifinal series of the BLAST Bounty Spring 2025 in Copenhagen. With the series going the distance, when the smoke cleared the Turkish Eternal Fire claimed a close 2-1 victory over G2 despite a standout performance from Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač and an overall underwhelming performance from EF star Ismailcan "XANTARES" Dörtkardeş.

Map one, Anubis, began with G2 starting their T-side off with a 7-0 lead before Eternal Fire rallied to close the gap to 7-5 at the half. This comeback from the Turkish squad then progressed to the team winning the first three rounds on their T-side to claim an 8-7 lead before keeping G2 at bay long enough to win Anubis 13-11 in regulation.

With G2 moving to their map pick, Dust2, they began the second map once again in the lead, with a 4-0 lead on their CT-side before the next eight rounds were a complete toss-up, with then being split evenly to see G2 win the half 8-4. Moving onto their T-side, G2 won their third pistol round of the series before Eternal Fire won the next five rounds on their CT-side to tie the map up 9-9. With the prospect of losing another map after an early lead, G2 rallied around huNter- as he led the charge for G2 to lock down Dust 13-9.

With the series tied up, Nuke began in much the same way as the previous two maps, with G2 beginning in the lead 5-0 before Eternal Fire figured G2 out and answered back with five rounds of their own. The half would then end with the two teams splitting the final rounds evenly to see Nuke tied 6-6 at the half.

After a series of close battles, the final half of Nuke and the series ended up being somewhat disappointing as all but Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov struggled to find kills, with this leading to Eternal Fire first finding a 9-6 lead before keeping G2 at bay long enough to secure Nuke 13-10 and the series 2-1.

In the series, Ali "Wicadia" Haydar Yalçın ended up being Eternal Fire's hero as the 19 year old rose to the occasion in place of a quiet series from XANTARES.
