Breaking: NRG acquires former Astralis talent br0

Another NA team embraces the international approach.

NRG has signed former Astralis member and rifler Alexander "br0" Bro, the organization announced today. He will step into the main roster immediately. HLTV has confirmed that he will replace Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte.

Br0 joined the Astralis academy roster, Astralis Talent, in late 2022, and was called up to the main roster this past year after the team bombed out of the PGL Copenhagen RMR. While he showed some positive signs, the team chose to bring on IGL Casper "cadiaN" Møller just a few months later, resulting in br0's benching.

But br0 remained in the headlines, with Astralis' use of an "emergency substitution" at the BLAST Premier Fall Final drawing the ire of community members and several pro players. Then, with Nicolai "device" Reedtz missing the Shanghai Major due to health issues, br0 was called back into the starting lineup with little to no time to prepare. Br0 was released at the start of this past December.

While NRG struggled to reach an international stage in 2024, they closed out the year with a top two finish in NA ECL S48, which guarantees them a spot in ESL Pro League Season 21. NRG also picked up standout Nouns player Jeorge "Jeorge" Endicott this past November.

The NRG roster for 2025 now consists of:

  • Canada Jadan "HexT" Postma

  • United States Josh "oSee" Ohm

  • United States Jeorge "Jeorge" Endicott

  • United States Nick "nitr0" Cannella

  • Denmark Alexander "br0" Bro

  • Canada Damian "daps" Steele (Coach)

  • United States Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte (Benched)
