Nouns top NA Revival Series November with new roster
Last night, Nouns' new trial roster topped the NA Revival Series November with their new quartet posting an impressive result right out the gate by taking Akimbo, BOSS, and NRG to secure the $4,000 top prize. The result is particularly notable as Nouns went into the event with a new quintet that saw Jaxon "Peeping" Cornwell and Nick "nicx" Lee slot in the team following the departures of Carson "nosraC" O'Reilly and Jeorge "Jeorge" Endicott late last week.
Nouns' run began on Saturday with a matchup against an Akimbo mixteam that saw Bishrel "N2o" Tamir and Yizhi "kralz" Zhou playing with three stand-ins due to schedule conflicts. Despite the squad being a pure mix, Akimbo gave Nouns a decent challenge on Ancient, with Nouns securing it 13-10 before putting up a much more one-sided 13-4 win on Mirage to secure the series.
The other quarterfinal series on day one saw BOSS secure a close 2-0 win over Josh "steel" Nissan's Undone, a timbermen mixteam surprising with a 2-1 win over Party Astronauts, and NRG struggling in a close 2-0 win over Revenge Nation.
Moving into the semifinals, the day started with a very impressive showing from Nouns as they faced off against BOSS. Despite their new lineup, Nouns looked utterly dominant against the orgless BOSS squad as they quickly dispatched Matthew "Cryptic" Whitmore and co. 13-4 on Ancient and 13-6 on Mirage with Peeping posting a massive 1.90 rating in the series.
The other semifinal started over in a similarly decisive manner for NRG as they were quick to strike the first blow by easily securing Mirage 13-5. Moving onto Anubis, timbermen finally answered back with a strong 8-4 T-side before crumbling on their CT-side, allowing NRG to quickly gain the lead with a back and forth battle ultimately resulting in the map heading to overtime. In this overtime bout, NRG swiftly knocked out timbermen with a perfect overtime to take Anubis 16-12.
With the finals confirmed, the series began with Nouns in control on Ancient, winning their T-side 8-4 after winning eight of the first ten rounds. After switching sides, NRG closed the gap by winning the first four rounds in a row on their T-side before another strong performance from Peeping allowed Nouns to sneak out ahead, finding double digits first at a 10-8 scoreline with the Nouns squad ultimately closing Ancient out 13-10.
Anubis began with NRG having their turn in the driver's seat as they started their CT-side with a confident 4-1 lead that would slide to a 5-3 lead before finally seeing Nouns lead 7-5 at halftime thanks to winning the last four rounds of the half in a row. Nouns' lead continued onto the CT-side as they won the opening pistol and the following round before their control of the map completely fell apart, with NRG power up to play an almost perfect T-side from then on out to take the map 13-10 and force the series onto Mirage.
With the series tied after two close maps, Mirage ended up being the exact opposite as Nouns were utterly dominant on the map, with the squad starting their CT-side off with an 8-0 lead before NRG were able to sneak in two rounds before Nouns got back on track to win the half 10-2. With this massive lead and an insane performance from Paytyn "junior" Johnson, Nouns' won their T-side pistol before quickly cleaning up the next two rounds to take Mirage 13-2 and the series 2-1.
