Train is Back! See the most important changes in tonight's patch
Train has officially returned to Counter-Strike after years away, debuting in Counter-Strike 2 for the first time with a complete visual overhaul. The maps team has "also made sure to mix up the gameplay a bit."
The return of Train also coincides with a rather sizable update, featuring a pretty lengthy list of fresh release notes. Here at Dust2.us, we've compiled some of the biggest changes from the full list of notes below.
Map Pool Changes
The following changes have been made to the map pools:
-
Train added to the Competitive, Casual, and Deathmatch modes. Train is not available in Premier or the active duty map pool, yet.
-
Added Basalt and Eden to the Competitive, Casual, and Deathmatch modes.
-
Added Palais and Whistle to Wingman.
-
Removed Thera, Mills, Assembly, and Memento from all game modes.
Overpass fixes
A slew of updates to Overpass have been added, based on community feedback. While the map has not been re-added to the active map pool, all these changes signal that Overpass could be re-added sooner than later.
Here are some of the highlights:
-
Visual updates to canals area and B-site.
-
Rework of heaven drop down mechanics.
-
Removed or fixed several various lines of sight.
-
Fixed some pixel peeks.
-
Small visual updates throughout the map.
Damage Prediction
-
Added damage prediction settings. Damage prediction allows clients to immediately play the audio/visual effects of inflicting damage without waiting for confirmation from the server. Damage prediction can make shooting feel significantly more responsive, but comes with the risk of occasionally being wrong (e.g. due to aim punch, tagging, or a death that your client isn't yet aware of).
-
Predicted body shot effects (disabled by default), head shot effects (disabled by default), and kill ragdolls (enabled by default) can each be toggled separately.
-
Damage prediction is not active when you have high ping.
