krmn on winning Advanced: "I was happy to beat an old teammate in Bobby"
Kamron "kmrn" Manii and timbermen made another deep run in a Frag event, finishing Fragadelhpia Tap Cup 2 in second place. kmrn, who currently plays for Akimbo, joined timbermen as a stand-in for this event, alongside Nelvin "nooz" Gonzalez from FLUFFY AIMERS.
Right after the end of the group stage, the only American in Akimbo talked with Jeffrey "Mnmzzz" Moore about his experience playing with timbermen, how he came to play with that squad, and the fact that Akimbo managed to win ESEA Advanced.
The full interview can be found below on YouTube, with key snippets underneath.
Pretty easy game against Revel to lock in playoffs, how do you feel coming out of that match?
Pretty good. The hardest part was honestly just getting all the PCs to work but once we got that it was a pretty easy group.
You were a last minute stand-in for this timbermen squad. I believe you only really locked in for the team sometime last night. How did you end up getting onto this timbermen squad? Were you already in Philadelphia before the LAN?
I live in Connecticut, so it's not that far of a drive and I just really wanted to come to Philly to see some of my friends. I was looking for anybody that wanted a team and I saw snav's post on Twitter and I was like "oh yeah, let's do it" almost as a joke and they are like "yeah actually we are down", didn't have to pay, cool.
What has it been like playing with the timbermen squad? Elephant in the room, obviously, they are known for being a bit toxic, a different team to play with, especially compared to Akimbo, where you have that very different team culture.
They are pretty fun. I played with them a lot of FPL and stuff, whenever they are queueing up so it's been kind of like that experience. We are mostly just having a good time, we obviously want to go on a run in playoffs but I don't think we are too worried about it. Everyone has been good so far.
Big news for you recently is the fact that Akimbo ended up winning ESEA Advanced right after we talked at Fragicago. How are you feeling making that return to ECL?
That's awesome, I never expected it to happen this way but I'm super excited. We played really well in the grand final, I was happy to beat an old teammate in Bobby, so it made it a little sweeter. Now we have a three month of just waiting to play ECL.
