M80 headed back to ESL Pro League!
M80 did not win the regular season title this time around, as Legacy popped them to the top with a single win. However, the team won the even more important trophy of securing a spot in the ESL Pro League for the next season.
The American lineup secured a 2-1 win over Legacy last night in the Upper Final of the ECL S48 Playoffs which automatically gives them a spot at the upcoming ESL Pro League Season 21 and a shot at the grand finals where they could repeat for the third time in a row as winners of ECL.
While the match was exciting within itself, both teams managed to avoid the DDoSing campaign that has already plagued two matches with delays and interruptions. The issues initially started in the Wildcard v. BOSS match two nights ago but have only continued with the Nouns v. Party Astronauts elimination match last night.
With their win last night, M80 solidified their position as one of the top teams in North America. As an organization, M80 has qualified for the ESL Pro League on each attempt and has not experienced a season yet in which they did not finish Top two after both league play and the playoffs.
This is also the first big win for Mason "Lake" Sanderson who has risen to prominence since his transfer to M80 for Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa. After a few years of bouncing around in the ESEA league system, this is the first time that the player has qualified for ESL Pro League outright in his young career.
M80 proved themselves capable at ESL Pro League the last time around having qualified for the playoffs for the first time as an organization earlier this year.
