More DDoS attacks in ECL playoffs
Last night was another tough night for professional players in North America's ESL Challenger League playoffs. Nouns and Party Astronauts limped to a three-map affair after a series of DDoS attacks impacted at least five players.
The attacks follow Wildcard's issues the previous night when Aran "Sonic" Groesbeek, Josh "JBa" Barutt, and Love "phzy" Smidebrant were all hit by the attacks while playing BOSS. The two sides had tried to remedy the issue and hoped the attacks could subside, but eventually, they had to muster through the issues, and Wildcard ended up the victor.
Last night was a similar struggle for both Nouns and Party Astronauts as Justin "FaNg" Coakley, Gage "Infinite" Green, Bogdan "ogwizard" Savula, Carson "nosraC" O'Reilly, and Jeorge "Jeorge" Endicott were all impacted by the DDoS over Party Astronaut's upset win over Nouns.
"ECL teams are getting DDoS'd. All teams that played in CCT and the CCT TeamSpeak they made us join," said Nouns AWPer Paytyn "junior" Johnson. Wildcard had previously played in the CCT events and would have been in the TeamSpeak server. junior went on to say that only nosraC and Jeorge were part of the single CCT TeamSpeak and not any others.
With finals coming up closer and closer this weekend, it remains to be seen how ESL will handle the attacks, with a spot in ESL Pro League on the line.
