Sonic did not have a fun time with all the DDOS'ing

"Holy f*ck": Wildcard allegedly DDoS'd in ECL playoffs

Some suspicious activity was going on.

The ESL Challenger Season 48 playoffs are well underway this week, with Wildcard one of the favorites to win the title. During their match last evening against BOSS, the team encountered a few issues, which were brought to light in a tweet by Aran "Sonic" Groesbeek following the international lineup's 2-0 win.

"Holy fuck getting DDoS'd in ECL playoffs. Some bookies were offering 17 - 1 odds with live odds suddenly flipping. Hope some idiot fucks lost a lot of money," the rifler tweeted after the frustrating match in which the team were sometimes playing one or two players down.

"At first, I thought I was just lagging, but it was unusual since I came to my girlfriend's house, and she has 1gb Fiber internet, and I thought 'that can’t be right’,” Sonic told Dust2.us this morning. "So I immediately thought it might be DDoS. I reset my router to change my IP, and it stopped, but then JBa started getting hit, making things a little more suspicious.”

BOSS and Wildcard were forced to continue pausing throughout the match as the players attempted to circumvent the DDoS attack, but eventually the two sides ran out of options and were forced to continue the match.

"The admins weren't posting much help, saying there was no way to prove it," the South African explained. "Eventually our tech pauses and BOSS’ pauses ran out and we were told to just play 4v5 or sub in our coach. At times we were 3v5!"

Despite the adversity, which continued throughout the second map as well, Wildcard managed to overcome BOSS with a 2-0 win and are scheduled to face NRG today.
