Complexity take down FaZe in EPL for the first time
Complexity has bested FaZe for the first time in the lineup's history, seeing the American squad secure a triumphant, albeit close 2-0 victory, over the veteran European squad to lock in a round of 12 berth at ESL Pro League Season 20.
The series between Complexity and their now-felled LAN tormentors began on Complexity's pick of Anubis, where FaZe began the map with a 2-0 lead on their CT-side before Complexity played an immaculate run of rounds, winning the next seven in a row to secure a 7-2 lead. FaZe would work to close this gap down to 7-5 by the end of the half, with Complexity nonetheless in the lead heading onto their CT-side. After switching sides, Complexity claimed the opening pistol round and the following round before FaZe once again closed the gap by winning three of their own.
With their narrow lead, Complexity held firm on their CT-side, being the first to find double digits and then match point at a 12-8 scoreline. While FaZe managed to secure two more rounds, Complexity were able to close out their map pick 13-10, sending the action onto Dust2 with Complexity in the lead.
Dust2 began with FaZe winning the opening pistol round on their T-side before Complexity won the next five rounds to secure an early lead on their CT-side. The next four rounds would then see FaZe come out on top before the final two rounds of the half were split evenly, with Dust2 tied 6-6 at the half.
In the second half of the classic map, Complexity struck the first blow by winning their T-side pistol, following it up by winning three of the next five rounds to secure double digits first. The next four rounds saw FaZe clearly out of their element as Complexity quickly worked their way to match point, leaving Robin "ropz" Kool in an unwinnable 1v4 on the final round, seeing Complexity take Dust2 13-9 and the series 2-0.
