The banned feature has a harsh penalty.

HEROIC map victory overtuned after SnapTap detection

The new feature has come to bite back.

During the opening group matches for ESL Pro League Season 20, HEROIC faced off against their regional opponents NIP in a best-of-three.

While HEROIC claimed a first map victory based on the score, it appears that the map was officially overturned after SnapTap was detected.

"We have an official statement coming in. The first map has been overturned as HEROIC have been caught using SnapTap", said Adam "Dinko" Hawthorne on the stream. The HLTV coverage team also confirmed the punishment had been taken.

"Before ESL Pro League we announced that the use of Snap Tap, Rappy Snappy, SOCD or similar assistants is prohibited at our events going forward," Said ESL's official statement. "During the map of Ancient between HEROIC and NIP, it was found that one of Heroic's players were using Snap Tap and thus the map has been forfeited in favour of NIP."

The development of Snap Tap, SOCD, and other similar features has been a hot topic in competitive Counter-Strike over the past few months, with many questioning the legality of the technology. Recently, TOs have officially moved to ban the input-altering technologies, with Valve even stepping in to auto-kick anybody in official Valve servers detected to use SnapTap. Most recently, ESL have banned SnapTap in all LAN competitions, waiting on banning the technology in online competitions due to difficulty in detection and verification.

The score going into Nuke is now 1-0 to NIP.

This is a developing story...
