Multiple stars depart Party Astronauts after shock Americas RMR CQ elimination
In a bombshell announcement this afternoon, Danny "cxzi" Strzelczyk and Adam "WolfY" Andersson have announced their departures from Party Astronauts, with the upcoming ESL Challenger Atlanta Closed Qualifier set to be the squad's final event together. The two players are both looking for new opportunities and do not appear to have new landing spots lined up.
The departures come as a surprise as Party Astronauts have made themselves as one of the best domestic teams in North America. The squad are currently 9-3 in ESL Challenger League North America Season 48 which includes some impressive wins over squads like NRG. However, the team's failure to make the Perfect World Shanghai Major Americas RMR seems to be the impetus for this move, as the duo left the day after the team were eliminated in shock fashion at the hands of FLUFFY AIMERS.
Dust2.us spoke with cxzi who explained that he didn't like the direction that the team was going. WolfY echo'd his teammates stance. He told Dust2.us that he doesn't agree with the CS being played and his belief in the project has dwindled.
Party Astronauts have been in flux in the last few months following the departure of Will "RUSH" Wierzba for Nouns while Connor "chop" Sullivan was replaced by Justin "FaNg" Coakley. The team also brought in Gage "Infinite" Green to replace the outgoing RUSH, with the roster looking strong in spite of the flurry of changes.
Dust2.us also contacted coach Luke "Viathan" Carstens for comment, but did not hear back at the time of publication.
Party Astronauts will have the following lineup after the ESL Challenger Atlanta CQ:
-
Ben "ben1337" Smith
-
Gage "Infinite" Green
-
Justin "FaNg" Coakley
-
Luke "Viathan" Carstens (Coach)
