Wildcard and NRG take confident wins to end day one
The round two high matches ended today with Wildcard and NRG picking up respectable wins over E-Xolos LAZER and Elevate, respectively. Both teams showed strong form against their lower-rankled opponents and have now joined Nouns and BOSS for the 2-0 matches set to be played tomorrow.
The match between Wildcard and E-Xolos LAZER was essentially a non-event, with Aran "Sonic" Groesbeek and co. never having to worry about dropping Ancient to the Brazilian underdogs. The map started with Wildcard claiming a confident 8-4 CT-side where they held the lead after round five. After switching sides, this dominance continued with Wildcard only dropping a single round before taking the map 13-5.
During Ancient, Sonic was Wildcard's star player with South African ending the map with 21 kills and an impressive 2.03 rating.
The other map between NRG and Elevate was slightly more competitive, as NRG began Mirage with a narrow 7-5 T-side despite initially starting the map up 5-0. After switching sides, Elevate briefly captured the lead by winning the first three rounds of their T-side in a row, however they promptly collapsed once NRG got their economy rolling, with the team winning the next six rounds in a row to take the map 13-8.
Timothy "autimatic" Ta was the star of this showdown, posting 22 kills and a 1.64 rating.
