BOSS upset Legacy; Nouns survive PA comeback
After a very formal and generic Round 1 of the North American Closed Qualifier for the Americas RMR, Round 2 kicked off with two fantastic matches, as BOSS surprisingly beat Legacy and Party Astronauts nearly pulled off an incredible comeback against Nouns, who would ultimately win the match. BOSS and Nouns are now one Bo3 series away from qualifying for the Americas RMR.
BOSS entered the Closed Qualifier as the #8 seed while Legacy was the event's #1 team but that did not stop the Americans from beating the Brazilians. BOSS started Anubis off on the CT-side but managed to reach halftime with just a small deficit of 7-5 which would become a 9-7 deficit before turning into a 12-9 lead.
This is an incredible feat, even more so since BOSS recently had a roster change, adding Gavin "Fruitcupx" Norman, an unproven youngster. However, Fruitcupx finished the map with the best rating.
The other game saw Party Astronauts and Nouns going back and forth all map long, which resulted in overtime. The two teams were seeded as #5 and #4 respectively, and both showed incredible balance throughout the 24 rounds.
During overtime, PA could only claim one round despite every one of the five OT rounds being very close. Nouns won Mirage 16-13 and are now just two maps away from the RMR.
The next matches will be BO1 1-0 record matches, featuring NRG v. Elevate and Wildcard v. E-Xolos LAZER.
