Complexity downed in regional battle as Liquid moves on
Complexity have officially been eliminated from IEM Cologne 2024 after falling to Liquid across two maps. It's a sad ending for the American squad who looked so hot coming out of the gate and had been doubted from the start of the tournament. The team were able to overcome the odds in the beginning of the event, but having to face both MOUZ and Liquid towards the end was just too much for the lineup.
Ancient started off the contest with Complexity actually looking firmly in charge to begin things. The team jumped out to a 5-1 lead before letting it slip to a 7-5 half, but even then the momentum felt like it was always in the favor of the Americans.
Complexity started to pull away in the second half after winning the pistol, but Liquid activated and slowly chipped away at the lead before reversing the score and closing it out 13-10 on their own map pick.
With Complexity still reeling from the gut punch of losing Ancient after a strong lead, they headed to Anubis where they hoped to make the series more competitive. It was a struggle for Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli to get things going after a strong Ancient, leading to his side scrambling for answers as they only managed five T-side rounds in their first half.
The second half was even more troubling as simply overpowered Complexity who were unable to manage a single defensive round as Liquid secured a dominant 13-5 half.
Liquid are now moving on to the final round where they will likely play FaZe once more for a spot in the LANXESS.
