NRG secures weekend win in NA Revival Series #2
NRG have only continued to improve under the guidance of Nick "nitr0" Cannella as the IGL has guided NRG to another domestic victory since his return from VALORANT.
It was a hotly contested tournament with the final day of competition slightly delayed as Wildcard protested the server location for their match against NRG.
The international roster requested a server that would better serve the needs of their Swedish duo, which was still stuck in Europe, while NRG did not want to disadvantage themselves by playing on an East Coast server. Eventually, the two sides agreed to play on a Miami-based server, and the match began nearly an hour after it was first scheduled to start.
Server location aside, NRG and Wildcard played each map to the final round of regulation as the two sides remained competitive throughout. Each squad won their own map pick 13-11 with the deciding map of Inferno eventually going NRG's way despite a resurgent Wildcard pushing the Americans to the absolute brink.
Elevate also seemed to have rediscovered their form, as they shocked North American fans with an upset win over Nouns in the semi-final. It was concerning for NA's bad boys when they were demolished 13-4 on their own pick of Ancient. However, the squad somehow bounced back to win Nouns' pick of Dust2 13-4 and then took the decider of Mirage 13-7 to set up a Grand Final match again NRG.
NRG once again had a difficult match as they were pushed to the brink against Elevate. nitr0's men started off the series by repeating Nouns' victory on Elevate's pick of Ancient, albeit with a much closer score, as they looked to wrap up the series in a sweep. Elevate would not be shut down as they responded in kind by sniping Anubis away 13-10 from NRG to set up the decider on Mirage.
Despite Elevate's strong 7-5 first-half T-side, NRG was even more potent on the attack as they scraped by with another 13-10 victory to take the series 2-1 and secure the NA Revival Series #2.
