Nouns pull out of IESF 2024; new Team USA selected
Last night, the United States Esports Federation (USEF) announced Team USA's lineup for IESF 2024. The previously confirmed Nouns lineup was replaced by Perseverance for the Riyadh-based event.
Dust2.us has confirmed that Nouns have pulled out of the North American qualifier for IESF 2024 because the main event conflicts with the Perfect World Major Shanghai Americas RMR, which is set to run from November 12th to the 15th.
With Nouns being heavy favorites to qualify for the Americas RMR, the team wisely chose the far more prestigious and important event to focus their efforts on.
As for Perseverance, the squad admittedly is a long shot to make the RMR. However, they have accepted the call to play in the IESF 2024 NA qualifier with hopes of making the main event, which is set to offer a $240,000 prize pool.
Under Take Flyte, Collin "CoJoMo" Moren and John "mds" Marin played the American Selection showmatch with Nolan "Louie" Herges, Khizar "Momo" Rehman, and Kyle "Wolffe Greenfield as stand-ins in late June. The team fared poorly against the full Nouns lineup, something that can be expected with Take Flyte fielding three last-minute stand-ins.
As previously reported by Jeffrey "Mnmzzz" Moore on X, this showmatch was a formality, with the "friendly" only intended to provide insight to the USEF before selecting a lineup to represent Team USA.
CoJoMo and Louie previously represented Team USA for IESF 2023 in Iași, Romania, with DETONATE finishing the event with a poor 1-4 record as their only win came over Team Algeria.
Team USA are now:
-
John "mds" Marin
-
Gabriel "Gabe" Shah
-
Collin "CoJoMo" Moren
-
Cory "shutout" Frymark
-
Nolan "Louie" Herges
The IESF 2024 North American qualifier is set to start tomorrow with Team USA looking to claim one of two spots in the main event with Team Canada and Team Colombia being the other top squads in attendance.
