IESF Pan American LAN canceled

The event has been moved online.

The IESF has made the difficult decision to move the Panamerican Esports Games online after "inefficient responsiveness" relating to the regional organizer. The event was supposed to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and was a regional qualifier for the upcoming international event later this year.

"We recognize that transitioning the Americas Regional Qualifiers 2024 to a fully online format may be unexpected for the athletes," the IESF informed all national teams in a Discord message. "It's important to explain that this change allows us to maintain fair play, uphold integrity, and strictly enforce all rules."

Record Entretenimento and the Confederação Brasileira de Desportos Eletrônicos (CBDEL) were responsible for organizing the event. The IESF made it a point to remark that the two would be at blame due to their "insufficient responsiveness and collaboration."

Rio de Janerio's Secretary of Sport and Leisure Rafael Picciani said that the Brazilian state is supporting the event. There is a proposal to the Minstry of Sports for additional resources to help support the event, which includes accommodations and human resources. The local government has not yet reviewed the proposal, according to Dust2 Brasil.

It is unclear at this point how the IESF intends to host the event online, where the online event will be held, or further specifics regarding the regional qualifier.
